I'm back!! I've been meaning to write this Part 1 post about my trip to Lake Tahoe from two weeks ago since I got back from that trip, but it's obvious that I am a major slacker here! Still getting into the groove with this blog, but I'm really trying to be on top of it from here on out! So now, three things I'm so grateful for:
1) That my best friend owns a beautiful cabin in South Lake Tahoe. It is GORGEOUS, she has mad interior design skills!
2) That she asked me to visit for my first time on the First Day of Fall this year (so excited for all the colors!)
3) That friend is also an amazing photographer! I'm looking at you @ramblinrosephotos ;)
So, this trip took a lot of prep work in terms of travel/WHAT TO WEAR. It was kind of last minute and a whirlwind, but I'm so glad it happened! Since driving to Tahoe from Orange County is a 8+ hour drive, that was out of the question, especially since it was a short trip and I would be alone (so boring). So I got to fly! I have only flown twice in my life. Once in high school with a very large group to NYC, where everything was set up for me. And the second time was exactly a year ago, when I flew to Chicago with my boyfriend. So flying by myself would be a first for me! I know, it was only an hour flight, but still. Navigating airports on my own had me worried (hello, anxiety).
Besides irrational flying anxieties, I had to do some serious planning with my one carry-on. I didn't want to take any checked luggage to 1) avoid an extra $80 for checking a bag and 2) avoid any confusion around baggage claim/risk of lost luggage (I may be a bit paranoid).
All girls will feel me here: When going somewhere on a girls' trip (or any trip really) we want to have basically our entire closet on hand for any situation or photo op that comes our way. Which is just impossible with one carry on, especially when it's fall and you want to wear boots and sweaters! To add onto this, as I mentioned my friend is a photographer, and already had like 5 photoshoots planned, so I had to do some careful packing- and a lot of shopping. I also had to wear a leather jacket and high heeled boots to the airport... so needless to say, I looked like an idiot in the 80 degree Southern California heat.
I flew from Long Beach (smallest and easiest airport to navigate ever, no anxiety necessary) into Sacramento (a slightly more confusing airport). And on the way up to Tahoe we started to see all the beautiful colors! A very exciting thing for two Central Valley/SoCal girls.
The day after I arrived, we drove out to Carson City, NV (the capital of Nevada, which is much smaller than our capital of Sacramento, it's literally 1/10th the population of Sac!) It's such a cute, quaint little town (with casinos because, Nevada). Driving through town, we spotted these vibrant orange bushes from the road, and we had to stop!
Forever 21 has been my go-to this fall, because everything else I love costs $$ (thanks to all the fab bloggers I follow on Insta for introducing me to so much cute stuff!) I have to reel myself in and find a less expensive dupe for most things! I found this cute cream colored turtleneck sweater at F21, and it's the perfect weight for CA. I love thick sweaters, but most of the time they're just too warm to wear here!
The skirt is from Irene's Story, a cute little boutique which are mostly located in Orange County and South Bay Los Angeles, with one location in NorCal! You can also shop them online, however, I can't find the skirt I have ANYWHERE online. The brand is Cotton Candy LA, but I linked a similar one at the bottom of the page!
This is just part 1 of Carson City and this outfit- more photos and stories to come! Stay tuned ;)

Hope you all have a great week and see you soon for a part 2!
